Huritini Student Council

Kia ora bloggers, every 6 weeks Karaitiana and Vadim attend the Huritini student council meetings. This is a group of children from 7 different schools surrounding the Halswell community.

They work together to make a positive environmental change here in Christchurch. They have currently been working on a presentation to present to the Christchurch city council, community board.  They would like funding for signage and a mural at Westlake park to help the community connect with the wildlife that lives there. As in the past younger member of the community have disturbed the nesting animals.

We are very proud of these two children, giving up their lunch times to create the presentation. Watch this space for more info...

Hi bloggers, we have had a busy week in Ruru this week, with our school cross country. We have had lots of fun and it was a great opportunity to win house points. A big well done to those who scored placings in the competitive race and another big well done, to all those who entered and tried their best. We hope you enjoy the photos. :)

Food for thought

Food for thought

This week in Ruru Jessica from food for thought came to help and talk about healthy eating. She also gave us some tips to keep our body healthy like how much sugar and all the other things people need to keep healthy.

Did you know that childs\teen needs only three teaspoons of sugar, and an up and go drink has 7 teaspoons of sugar which is more than double a child\teens normal diet. Then on Friday each homeroom went to a new world up the road from our school. We had $180 to buy snacks for our class. First went Miss Bunting's home room, then Mrs Lee and then Miss Ferguson. We also want to give a big thanks to James the store owner, Jessica the food for thought lady, and also thanks to Donna, Michelle, Kath, Jessica Te Hari’s mum, Kristy Adele, Nina, Mr Hines for helping the home rooms to go to the new world we had the best experience ever.
